Gillette Grove Palmetto is one of various neighborhoods that were completed in recent years but only after a period of economic uncertainty had passed in Southwest Florida. Originally platted in 2007 by local builder Maronda Homes, Gillette Grove Palmetto would not start construction until three years later because of the drastic real estate downturn of 2008.
Located about a mile north of the Frog Creek Preserve, Gillette Grove Palmetto has one entrance on 36th Avenue and another one along Moccasin Wallow Road just east of the Tamiami Trail. This is a fairly large neighborhood where home buyers took great advantage of low pricing from 2010 to 2012. Most residents are families who have lived here since the initial phase of the project was completed; they enjoy holding on to their properties, which is why you will only see a couple of listings coming on the market each month.
The floor plans built by Maronda Homes for Gillette Grove Palmetto are inspired by the Mediterranean revival style, but with streamlined facades. In terms of living space, you will find three-bedroom homes with at least 1,140 square feet under air conditioning; should you need more space, a two-level home with four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms can be negotiated for less than $370K. As of late 2024, a three-bedroom home was listed under $319K. The most attractive homes have views of Lake Longoria on the northwest corner of the neighborhood, and this is where a nice playground for children is located. Latest pricing at Gillette Grove Palmetto will be found below if there is inventory.
Gillette Grove is in a low-density section of Palmetto, but it is not far from the Historic District or Downtown Bradenton. A couple of convenience stores plus a Dollar General are right down the street on Tamiami Trail, and you no longer have to drive to the Publix supermarket in Palmetto because there is a new one just five minutes away at Gateway Commons on the other side of I-75. Nearby family attractions include the Terra Ceia Preserve and the kayak launch at Bishop Harbor. Holmes Beach is less than 40 minutes away.
